I. Training Objectives

    The specialty is designed to give students a solid understanding of mathematical knowledge, an in-depth knowledge of fundamental theories and methods of Statistics and Financial Actuarial Science with a fundamental training of scientific research. The training can provide students with skills required dealing with practical problems on financial problems. The graduate could be qualified to several works such as financial problem modeling, managing and decision-making in economies and financial sectors. The graduate could become advanced professional personnel engaged in actuarial analyzing, designing, managing and evaluating works,employed by government, enterprise, financial institutions and scientific research units. In addition, they could pursue further study in the relative areas.  

II. Training Standards  

1. Mastering the fundamental knowledge, theories and techniques of statistics and financial actuarial science;

2. Knowing the development trend in the statistics and actuarial science discipline;

3. Having the capabilities of problem analyzing and solving;

4. Having the ability in document retrieval, data querying and thesis writing;

5. Attaining the ability of cooperation and certain organization management

6. Passing the third level of new HSK with score of 180 or above, or having the equivalence of the third level of new HSK with score of 180, having proper Chinese listening, speaking, reading and writing skills, having proper Chinese language ability and communication ability.

VII. Length of Schooling, Degree and Credits Requirements for Graduation

1. Length of Schooling: The length of schooling generally lasts four years. But if students take extra courses, they can graduate one year in advance or they have a maximum of  8 years to finish the Bachelor Degree of  Science programme.

2. Degree Conferred: Bachelor of Science.
