After revisiting a general three dimensional (3D) chaotic system with three-scroll, its more rich dynamics that have not been found previously are clearly revealed. Some more rigorous mathematical work, such as for the complete distribution and the local stability and bifurcation of its equilibrium points, and the dynamics at infinity, is mainly carried out in this article. Our numerical simulations not only support all analytical results obtained, but also further illustrate some other new dynamical behaviors, including two heteroclinic orbits to $E_{0}$ and $E_{\pm}$ and their bifurcated chaotic attractors, infinite many singularly degenerate heteroclinic cycles with two-scroll and three-scroll chaotic attractors nearby. In particular, a possible new mechanism behind the creation of three-scroll chaotic attractors is presented. Based on this kind of mechanics, some new three-scroll chaotic attractors with only one saddle equilibrium and all three negative Lyapunov exponents, are numerically found in the case of small $f > 0$. These interesting dynamics clearly shows that the system deserves further detailed investigations in the future.

李先义,男(1966.3--),湖南衡南人,九三学社成员;扬州大学数学三级教授,博士生导师;华东师范大学应用数学专业博士, 法国里尔科技大学数学系博士后;主持包括国家自然科学基金面上项目、国家自然科学基金数学天元基金、国家留学基金、湖南教育厅科研基金青年项目、一般项目、湖南省学科带头人基金、广东省高校高层次人才基金等各级各类科研项目等21项。曾先后被评为“湖南省青年骨干教师”、“湖南省新世纪‘121’人才工程”人选、“湖南省学科带头人”、“广东省‘千百十’人才工程省级培养对象(第二层次人选)”等,获“湖南省高校科技工作先进工作者”、“上海市研究生优秀成果(博士论文)”、“全国第三届‘秦元勋常微分方程奖’”等。
